Anirban Lahiri is an Indian professional golfer who has plied his trade on the Asian Tour and the PGA (Professional Golfers’ Association of America) Tour having previously competed on the European Tour and the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI). He had achieved his peak world ranking of number 33 in March 2015 and his best performance at a major tournament had come at the 2015 PGA Championship where he had finished in joint 5th-place. With 7 trophies on the Asian Tour as of March 2021, he was tied in 9th-place on the all-time tour leaderboard. He had earned his ‘Order of Merit’ on the Professional Golf Tour of India in 2009 and on the Asian Tour in 2015.   • When he qualified for the 2015 Masters Tournament, he had become just the 3rd Indian golfer, after Jeev Milkha Singh and Arjun Atwal, to qualify for this prestigious tournament. He had performed creditably as well, making the cut on his tournament debut, and finishing with a scoreline that read 71-75-74-72 over the 4 rounds, ending up in tied 49th place.
  • The crowning glory of his career had come at the 2015 PGA Championship where he had finished in joint 5th place, easily the then-best performance by an Indian at a golfing major. His scoreline of 70-67-70-68 over the 4 rounds meant that he had become the first Indian golfer to shoot sub-par scores in all 4 rounds in a major tournament.
  • His overall total of 13-under-par was the best performance by an Indian golfer at any major tournament and his score of 5-under-par in the 2nd round was also the best single-round performance by an Indian golfer at any major tournament.
